NORCROSS, GA & CANTON, NC – The Evergreen Solar Farm in Canton, North Carolina, with partner FLS Energy has gone live using advanced solar cell technology from Georgia-based Suniva.
Set atop a former landfill, the 555 kW project utilizes high-powered Suniva solar modules and was constructed via a 20-year power purchase agreement from FLS Energy to supply clean energy to the region’s Progress Energy customers.
We have covered Suniva for several years now as it raised significant amounts of venture backing and brought its technology — which inexpensively increases the efficiency of solar cells– to market.
The company presented at Tech Media’s Southeast Venture Conference and was one of its Tech 50 companies in 2008.
“The Evergreen Solar Farm provides a shining example of Suniva’s prominence in the rapidly expanding renewable energy market of the southeastern U.S. and our ability to meet the growing needs of utility scale customers,” said John Baumstark, CEO of Suniva.
