DURHAM, NC – Korean firm Arigene Co. has agreed to buy AIDs drug firm Trimeris (Nasdaq:TRMS)for about $81 million.
Arigene says it will pay $3.60 a share for Trimeris stock, a 55 percent premium over its average price the last three months. Arigene develops and makes healthcare systems and medical devices that plans to expand into biotech.
Trimeris shares rose 38 percent on the news Friday, rising to $3.60 a share, but closed at $3.53. Shares were selling at $3.56 each mid-morning Monday.
Trimeris and its manufacturing partner Roche sell Fuzeon, a drug that treats the HIV virus that causes AIDS.
