Sprint launches 4G broadband covering Atlanta

August 18th, 2009

ATLANTA – Life in the fast lane just speeded up in Atlanta. It is among the first cities to enjoy 4G wireless connections from Sprint, the first national carrier to test, launch and market 4G technology.

Sprint 4G delivers peak downlink speeds of more than 10 Mbps and average downlink speeds of 3-6 Mbps – three to five times faster than the 3G service offered by any carrier today, based on average download speeds.

“Sprint 4G is emerging as a high-value asset for businesses of all sizes,” said Carolyn Rehling, regional vice president, Sprint. “With our large head start in deploying 4G, Sprint will also take the lead in applying it to productivity-enhancing solutions for business.

Sprint launched 4G in Baltimore in September 2008. It plans to launch in Charlotte, Raleigh, and Greensboro, among other cities nationally this year.

DC will have to wait unti 2010, the company says.
