Vorbeck Materials Receives $5.1 Million in Series 2 Financing
JESSUP, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Vorbeck Materials Corp. announced today that it has secured $5.1 million in a Series 2 financing led by Stoneham Partners, a private investment firm, with contributions from the Maryland Department for Business and Economic Development and a syndicate of individual investors.
The company will use the capital to expand development of its Vor-xTM graphene and Vor-inkTM conductive inks for printed electronics applications.
In association with the financing, Vorbeck has named two new members to its board, Kristen L. Silverberg, former U.S. Ambassador to the European Union and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, and Dr. Robert G. Hirsch, former Global Managing Director for DuPont’s Intellectual Assets Business and Corporate New Ventures and manager of five global businesses for DuPont.
Vorbeck Materials Corp. is a technology company established in 2006 to manufacture and develop applications using Vor-x, a novel graphene material.
Graphene possesses unique electronic properties and is recognized as the strongest and most thermally conductive material known. There has been considerable buzz in the tech community over the range of its potential uses.
Vorbeck says that with exclusive technology licenses from Princeton University, industrial-scale manufacturing capacity, and development programs with industry leaders in electronics, energy, and transportation, it is demonstrating graphene’s immediate potential in real-world products.
