UPDATED MCLEAN, VA – JobFox, the online job site that matches job seekers with employers via its mutual suitability system, has raised $3 million via debt and options on its securities, according to a regulatory filing.
The company revealed the financing in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
CEO Rob McGovern is recovering from a car accident, which is why he didn’t return our call for comment when we first reported the story, says JobFox spokesperson Steven Toole. It’s nothing more than standard journalistic practice to note when companies do not respond to media inquiries before deadlines.
Toole says, “We’re doing very well despite economic factors. Our new product offerings have far exceeded expectations, we’re experiencing record traffic to Jobfox.com, and our ResumePal offering is starting to gain significant adoption.”
JobFox raised a $20 million C round in January 2008 and a $10 million B round in May 2006. Investors include Menlo Ventures and New Enterprise Associates.
JobFox matches job seekers and employers in much the same way some dating sites match people and brings headhunter techniques to job seekers, helping them showcase their unique skills and experiences. Its matching technology focuses on “the 10 dimensions of a good job fit.”
The company allows job seekers to create their own free personally branded career space and notifies them via mobile phone, IM text messages, or otherwise when a potential employer looks at their resume. Users can upload work samples and even let employers know they’re not unhappy in their current position, putting them in a desired segment of potential employees.
JobFox was founded by Rob McGovern, one of TechJournal South’s most influential people in the Southeast Technology sector picks in 2007 and as Market10, presented its business plan at TJS’s first Southeast Venture Conference in 2007 (www.seventure.org).
McGovern founded and was chairman and CEO of CareerBuilder.com and wrote the popular career advice book, “Bring Your ‘A’ Game.”
