Dell cuts more jobs at Winston-Salem plant

April 3rd, 2009

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Dell Inc. has cut an additional 50 contract jobs at its North Carolina desktop PC assembly facility, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

Dell cut 150 jobs last month at the palnt and 115 contract positions in November.

The $115 million plant opened in 2005 and generated controversy over the large amounts of state and local incentive money Dell received.

Dell was eligible for up to $305 million in incentive payments from the state depending on how many jobs it creates and its capital investment.

Local incentives total $22.2 million so far.

The company will have to repay some of the property tax breaks it received if it does not meet employment numbers required in its agreements.
