CHARLOTTE, NC – Charlotte-based CapitalSouth Partners has invested $10 million in Atlanta-based Sparus Inc., a utility services company, according to the Charlotte Observer. The firm also says it has $300 million to invest in small and mid-sized Southeast businesses.

CapitalSouth also says it is winding-down its nearly 10-year-old small business investment fund.

It also told the Observer it is ready to make $300 million in new investments in small and mid-sized Southeast businesses from funds it raised prior to the current credit crunch.

It is also seeking junior analysts to add to its staff, the report said.

CapitalSouth also has offices in Tampa, Raleigh, Louisville, and Dallas.
