Former CheckFree chair joins Atlanta’s Total Technology Ventures

September 18th, 2008

ATLANTA – Total Technology Ventures (TTV), a venture capital firm focused exclusively on the financial services technology industry, has named Mark Johnson, the former vice chair of CheckFree Corp, a partner.

“His addition further strengthens the TTV team for its mission of being successful investors in financial services technology companies,” says Partner Gardiner W. Garrard, III.

Prior to joining TTV, Johnson served as the vice chair of CheckFree until its acquisition by Fiserv in 2007.

In this role, Johnson’s responsibilities included evaluating strategic growth opportunities for the company, developing strategic corporate relationships and supporting long term business strategies.

His primary strategic focus was to expand CheckFree’s electronic services to a broader base of corporate and consumer customers. He was also a member of the CheckFree Board of Directors.

In 2000, Johnson left his position at CheckFree to form e-RM Ventures, a private investing consultancy focused on early-stage payments-related companies.

Prior to joining CheckFree Corporation in the early ‘80s, Johnson worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and Bank One.

He currently serves on the board of directors of a number of private companies and as vice chair of the Technology Association of Georgia (“TAG”) executive committee and board.
