NASHVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System is hiring a new executive and will invest up to $900 million in pension-fund assets in private equity.
Changes in Tennessee law two months ago permit investment from the TCRS in venture capital, corporate buyouts, mezzanine and distressed debt, special situations and secondary funds.
Private equity investments may include limited partnerships, private placements, co-investments, funds-of-funds and commingled funds.
Venture Nashville reports that TCRS may begin developing overall policy for private equity investments late in September.
Before the end of September, TCRS will begin recruiting candidates for the new equities directorship.
