RTP Startup Weekend to create company in 54 hours

July 10th, 2008

RESEARCH TRIANGLE, NC – A lot can be accomplished in more than 50 hours if you just stop daydreaming, procrastinating and do something! Web developers, designers, SEO experts and marketers are among the RTP’s top techies who will be attending RTP Startup Weekend, set from July 11 to 13 at Edge Office in Raleigh.

The organizers call the event “Jazz for entrepreneurs.”

Based on group ideas and collaborations, event attendees from a variety of fields will create a real company from idea to launch within 54 hours. Event organizers Jason DiMambro, Jess Martin and Wayne Sutton are the braintrust for RTP Startup Weekend. Along with other community leaders, they decided to pitch to SUW staff back in April 2007 to build upon conversations from the Chapel Hill SUW that was held last November.

SUW kicks off on Friday, July 11 at 6 p.m. with a group mix and mingle and brainstorming session. At around 8:30 p.m., John Glushik with Intersouth Partners, will discuss ways that investors/VCs evaluate startups and how attendees can make their ideas into a reality.

“At RTP Startup Weekend, we hope attendees will not only discover different ideas from techies who work in the marketplace, but will also provide opportunities for them to continue to network with other entrepreneurs, ” said Jason Dimambro, president of Raleigh-based marvel Internetworking, who launched his company back in 2003 to provide turn-key IT solutions for small and mid-sized companies.
