GREENSBORO/HIGH POINT, NC – PhazeTek, a developer of “green” natural phase change materials for energy conservation in a variety of applications, has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the North Carolina Green Business Fund to support the development of phase change materials (PCMs) for use in wallboard.
The ability of PCMs to absorb and release a great amount of heat, while their temperature remains constant, will enable them to save energy used to heat and cool buildings, thus reducing the need for scarce power and reducing the release of CO2.
Integrating PhazeTek PCMs into wallboard will enable a built-in insulation system and helps provide a stable room temperature with less heating or cooling.
Currently, the only viable option is encapsulated Paraffin, which is petroleum based, flammable, incapable of storing as much heat, and more expensive.
PhazeTek products, on the other hand, are environmentally-safe, non-toxic, inexpensive and have high-heat storage capability.PhazeTek Corporation is a nanotechnology company founded in 2007 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
PhazeTek is currently incubated under the North Carolina Nano Accelerator (NCNA), an innovative facility founded by QuarTek Corporation of Greensboro which hosts and provides resources to numerous nanotechnology-based companies.
