DC’s ARPU raises $8.73M C round for online services

WASHINGTON, DC—ARPU Inc., an online advertising network that cross-sells additional relevant services, has raised $8.73 million in Series C funding led by Grotech Capital group according to a regulatory filing.

Existing backers, Polaris Venture Partners and New Atlantic Ventures participated.

Other investors include The Grosvenor Funds and New Markets Growth Fund.

The company raised a $5 million B round in July, 2006 from Polaris, Grosvenor, New Markets and Draper Atlantic.

The company says it helps its clients drive online services revenue. It sells its services to suppliers and distributors of products and to non-profits.

When a customer of one its clients orders a product or service from one of Arpu’s distributors, Arpu presents the customer with a relevant additional service. It works with suppliers to offer free trials.

Once a customer completes the service, a confirmation email confirms order details and a link to a “My Services” portal, which ARPU builds, manages and services. There the customer can received additional product details, upgrade, downgrade or cancel services.
