RTP’s ChannelAdvisor buys Marketworks

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC–ChannelAdvisor, which sells e-commerce channel management software, has acquired Marketworks. Marketworks sells marketplace management software and services.

“Acquiring Marketworks solidifies our leadership position and reinforces our commitment to the marketplace segment,” says Scot Wingo, CEO of ChannelAdvisor. “We will continue to evaluate other opportunities in this and other e-commerce channel segments as they arise.”

ChannelAdvisor raised a $30 million round led by New Enterprise Associates in May, and Wingo said at the time that acquisitions were on the horizon.

Following the acquisition, the company says it will have 5,500 customers globally; $2.5 billion in annual gross merchandise value; and offices in the RTP), Seattle, Washington; Atlanta, GA; Bacharach and Berlin, Germany; London, and Melbourne, Australia.

ChannelAdvisor provides technology and services that enable online retailers to maximize their products across multiple e-commerce marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon.com and Overstock.com, comparison shopping engines such as Shopping.com, Shopzilla, Nextag and Google Product Search and search engines such as Google, Yahoo!

Its customers include: GSI Commerce, Sears, Brookstone, Abebooks and Motorola.
