September 21st, 2007

RALEIGH, NC—Hatteras Investment Partners is raising a $500 million fund with a minimum $1 million investment required, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, PE News Wire reported Thursday.

Hatteras specializes in alternative investment asset management (fund of funds). Hatteras was co-founded by David B. Perkins and Mark W. Yusko in 2003 as a solution to enable investors to confidently access the alternative investment space, according to the firm’s Web site.

It says “alternative investments generally represent a broad classification of investment strategies that have risk/return characteristics that may complement the risk/return characteristics associated with traditional investment assets such as stocks, bonds and cash.

“Alternative investments can be grouped into four areas: Private Equity, Real Estate, Hedge Funds and Managed Futures. Within each of these categories there are multiple strategies.”
