RALEIGH, N.C. – Norris Tolson, the new president and chief executive officer at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, will be the guest speaker at the next “Exchange” networking event put on by WRAL Local Tech Wire.
The invitation-only event is set for Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the American Tobacco Historical Complex in Durham.
“I look forward to sharing with fellow executives my vision for helping grow the North Carolina Biotechnology Center as well as the biotechnology and life science sectors, which are so crucial to our state’s economy in the 21st century,” Tolson said.
“We have an internationally recognized hub for research, development, commercialization and production of medicines, chemicals, medical devices and related developments such as software and contract research organization resources,” he added.
“Our goal at the Biotech Center is to make the life science sector an ever growing part of our state’s future in an increasingly competitive and global environment.”
The Exchange is put on in part by charter sponsors Hosted Solutions and 919 Marketing.
Other sponsors include Red Hat, InCentric Solutions, iContact, LemaCreative and Jim Dickens Printing and Promotional Products.
“Having Mr. Tolson as our guest speaker offers executives a rare opportunity to mix and learn with one of the most important leaders in our state’s economy,” said Rick Smith, editor of WRAL Local Tech Wire.
“He is very new in his position at the Biotech Center, but having served on its board for several years he knows first hand the importance of the biotechnology sector to our future. Tolson also can offer insight into challenges we face given his background as a former Commerce secretary and political leader.”
Added Rich Lee, chief executive officer of Hosted Solutions: “Hosted Solutions is pleased to sponsor The Exchange, and provide a series of exclusive gatherings where area business leaders can come together to discuss market trends, information and experiences. These venues for thought collaboration and sharing of industry best practices are a great opportunity for attendees to tap the knowledge and expertise of the brightest minds across several industries.”
