The Defense Security Technology Accelerator receives first client companies

December 7th, 2006

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Today, the Defense and Security Technology Accelerator (DSTA), an incubation program that assists entrepreneurs with the rapid development of defense and security technology services for military and commercial clients, announced the acceptance of the first seven client companies into its recently-opened accelerator.

Before being selected by DSTA, each company completed an application process that evaluated business potential, technical merit, commercial viability, quality of the management team, and potential economic impact to the State of North Carolina.

Application materials were reviewed by the DSTA management team and an application review committee comprised of industry and business professionals.

The seven companies include

• Horizontal Fusion, a provider of computer training and services to the DoD
• Immersion Media, which uses 3D motion capture video for training simulations
• K-3 Enterprises, a geospatial data management and IT company
• Net Centric Services, a manufacturer of cryptographic data and tactical wireless communications products
• Olivia Tower, which offers a rapid deployment, mobile platform that can be fully integrated with a variety of communication, optical and networking equipment.
• Signet Technologies, a security integration company that designs, installs and services integrated security services. It creates new technologies through innovative use of existing security products.
• Virtual Heroes, a company that uses simulation and digital gaming to expedite the learning proficiency and reduce training costs

“We are very pleased with the quality of this first group of companies, and are committed to helping in their success,” said Scott Perry, General Manager of DSTA.

The selected companies will receive business development assistance that includes one-on-one coaching, on-site lab space, and access to a network of expertise in the defense and security industries. The companies are now in the process of moving into the DSTA headquarters facility in Fayetteville.
