ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Jim Roberts, the Executive Director of the Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council, has announced he is leaving his post to launch his own marketing consulting firm.
The Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council is an organization created to help facilitate entrepreneurship in Western North Carolina. The Blue Ridge Angel Investors Network is also a part of the Council, which is funded by AdvantageWest, a economic development commission representing western North Carolina.
Roberts had been involved in entrepreneurial activities for years, first running the Charlotte-based entrepreneurial networking organization, Firstround, prior to founding the Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council in 2002.
“Some may say the infrastructure is now ahead of the entrepreneurs in the surge of interest in building a knowledge based economy in western North Carolina,” said Roberts in a recent TechJournal South column. “That’s fair to say, but doesn’t that sound like a wonderful opportunity for companies who are looking for a new home with a beautiful view?”
