RALEIGH, NC – Over 100 technology and business leaders from across the Triangle gathered last evening at the SAS campus for an exeCConnect reception to pay tribute to Dr. Jim Goodnight. The CEO of SAS was honored with a lifetime achievement award for his contributions to the Triangle community.
SAS is the world’s leading business intelligence software vendor, conducting research and sifting through massive amounts of data for Fortune 500 companies and other organizations. In 2005, the company realized its 29th year of consistent revenue growth and profitability with overall revenue of $1.68 billion. But while the success of SAS is undeniable, Dr. Goodnight was recognized for more than his work with SAS.
“We felt it was very appropriate to honor Dr. Goodnight for his steadfast support of our local businesses, educational systems and charitable organizations,” said David Jones, president and chief executive officer of Peak 10. “His work ethic is legendary and our lifetime achievement award recognizes the contributions he has made over and over again to the Triangle region and to North Carolina as a whole.”
exeCConnect events, which are sponsored by ClearImage, Grant Thornton, Ironworks, Kennedy Covington, Peak 10, SAS and Southern Capitol Ventures, are “invitation-only” executive level receptions hosted in Research Triangle Park and Charlotte, NC, as well as Richmond, VA.
“exeCConnect events provide executives with the opportunity to come together and learn more about other business leaders and companies in their communities,” said Mark Larson, partner in the Raleigh office of Grant Thornton. “Because of the relaxed, professional environment, exeCConnect receptions are often preferred over more traditional, marketing-driven events.”
Future Triangle area exeCConnect events will be held in the spring and fall at rotating venues throughout the Triangle region.
