SCRA honors Knowledge Economists

September 14th, 2006

ANDERSON, SC – The South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA), a provider of applied research and technology services that develops and manages research operations in South Carolina, honored five state leaders as “Knowledge Economists” for their contribution towards creating high-paying technology jobs and nurturing venture capital.

The five South Carolina citizens recognized were U.S. Congressional representative, Gresham Barret; South Carolina representatives, Bobby Harrell and Dan Cooper; Clemson University’s VP for Research and Economic Development, Chris Przirembel; and John Alton Miller Jr., President and CEO of AnMed Health.

According to SCRA’s CEO, Bill Mahoney, these individuals were honored as Knowledge Economists for being “activists, researchers, sculptors, and observers who collaboratively have inspired and built our Knowledge Economy for today and tomorrow.”

“Part of SCRA’s role in its dedication to this state’s and this nation’s Knowledge Economy is to recognize those outstanding citizens in our society who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the Knowledge Economy,” SCRA’s VP Rob Davis said. “The hope of this state’s financial strength is pinioned on a robust and vigorous Knowledge Economy, where the value of the mind shapes the successful profile of progress and great prospects for the future.”
