Virginia medical technologies firm lands $21.5 million

LEESBURG, VA – K2M, a developer of medical technologies focused on the human spine, has secured $21.5 million in a new mezzanine round of funding led by Connecticut-based Ferrer Freeman & Company with additional financing from BETA.

Proceeds of the investment will go towards sales and marketing efforts, as well as further product development.

K2M is planning to unveil its new spinal stabilization system later this year.

Co-founder John Kostuik is the former chief of spine surgery at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. Kostuik currently serves as its chairman and chief medical officer for the company.
