DeckParty Recap

May 21st, 2004

RTP, NC – One a hot humid night in RTP, over 700 technology executives came out to network at the TechJournal’s Thursday night DeckParty.

The crowd included executives from companies like Becton Dickinson, IBM, Tranzyme, SAS, Websourced, Art.com, GSK, ArrayXpress, MCNC and Lord Corporation to name a few. There was also a strong contingency of representatives from those involved with technology development from the area Universities.

The free event featured wine, cold beer on tap and an assortment of appetizers with folks coming from out of town areas such Atlanta, Charlotte, Winston Salem, Washington DC and Virgina Beach among others.

“This event is a great mix of social and business networking,” said Chad Wilkins, a technology marketing consultant. “The area is in desperate need of more events like this,” said Wilkins. “People are getting business leads, social contacts and enjoying themselves all at the same time.”

Alan North of Norlinx, one of the event’s sponsors, commented as he made his way through the crowd, “I had no idea this was going to be such an ‘event’, this is a great scene.”

The event which started at 5:30 saw many people still hanging out until the 10pm hour as the things winded down.

“We got several great leads tonight, including some who are interested in purchasing the whole building,” said Braxton Jones, a Director with Dilweg Companies, the group that co-hosted the event at their 22,000 square foot iLoft building which is on the market.

“Everyone seemed to have fun tonight and there was some great business connections going on as well,” said Eric Gregg, Publisher of the Triangle TechJournal. “I’ve heard numerous people say they saw people tonight they haven’t seen in years and there were many new connections being made as well. Our sponsors make these events happen and we thank all of them as well as everyone who came out.”
